The City of Lowell

Lowell is the fourth largest city in Massachusetts. Its strategic location at the intersection of Interstates 495 and 93, and Route 3, provides excellent access to all points of interest. The city is an easy, 40-minute ride from Boston's North Station on the MBTAís commuter rail service.

Residents claim Lowell's Historical National Park as the country's greatest tribute to the Industrial Revolution and the textile industry that ruled New Englandís economy in the 19th century. Historic trolley rides, canal boat tours and several downtown museums, including the New England Quilt Museum and the American Textile History Museum, further complement the cityís rehabilitated mill buildings, many of which today serve as art galleries, restaurants and upscale loft condominiums.

The 2,800-seat Lowell Auditorium hosts some of the country's best performers at affordable prices. The Merrimack Repertory Theater , also located downtown, is one of the few self-sustaining repertory theater groups in the northeast. The Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell holds many fabulous shows, sporting events and special events throughout the year.

Summertime in Lowell means baseball. The cityís LeLacheur Park is home to the Lowell Spinners, Red Sox AAA affiliate. Games are family-oriented and lots of fun!

Modern Lowell is a revitalized urban center, home to several fine dining and ethnic restaurants and cultural attractions. For a full listing of attractions and things to do visit the CVBís online calendar at http://www.merrimackvalley.org.
